Designed in the early 1970s, the Soriana sofa is a landmark of Italian mid-century modern design. Its soft, sculptural form challenges conventional upholstery by eliminating an internal frame. The linen blend upholstery is instead held by an external steel clamp system, emphasizing comfort and material expression. Awarded the Compasso d’Oro in 1970, Soriana remains a timeless symbol of radical design thinking.

Afra and Tobia Scarpa were among the most influential figures in 20th-century Italian design and architecture. Their collaborative work seamlessly blended industrial innovation with refined craftsmanship. Known for experimenting with materials and construction techniques, they consistently challenged established design norms.
