Description
Introducing the chair of your wildest vintage dreams, born right here in our gallery's creative think-tank. Picture this: a 1970s Space Age fiberglass chair, originally designed by the legendary Michel Cadestin. Yeah, it's the iconic Karate chair, but we noticed that the old-school vinyl button tufted upholstery was a bit of a hot mess. Then, a cosmic alignment! We saw its striking resemblance to Joe Colombo's epic Elda chair shell.
So, what did we do? We sprinkled some fairy dust, called up our top-notch upholsterers in Los Angeles, and gave this bad boy a magical makeover. Now, this Cadestin Karate chair is rocking the same lush upholstery style as Colombo’s Elda chair, complete with all the plush pads and luxurious feels. But wait, there's more! We didn't just stop there—we wrapped the entire fiberglass body and the matching ottoman in a divine grey Belgian boucle. Yup, you read that right. This is the ultimate Cadestin x Colombo collab you never knew you needed.
Draped in a thick, sumptuous grey bouclé, this chair is not just a sight for sore eyes—it's the throne you deserve. And here's the kicker: it comes with a rare matching ottoman, because why should your feet miss out on the fun? Fun fact: the original Elda chair didn't even have an ottoman option. So, you can now kick back, relax, and put your feet up in style.
Hailing from the groovy 1970s and crafted in France by the fabulous Airborne Furniture Company, this chair is a one-of-a-kind masterpiece.
Joe Colombo: An Italian design virtuoso known for his futuristic, modular furniture that screams innovation. Colombo's designs, including the famous Elda chair, are timeless icons that blend functionality with avant-garde aesthetics. He redefined space living with his bold, visionary concepts.
Michel Cadestin: A French designer celebrated for his Space Age creations, Cadestin's work epitomizes the sleek, bold lines and innovative use of materials that defined 1970s design. His Karate chair is a testament to his ability to blend form and function seamlessly.
Airborne Furniture Company: A trailblazer in French design, Airborne made waves in the 1960s and 70s with their cutting-edge furniture. Their pieces, like the iconic Cadestin Karate chair, are sought after for their unique blend of comfort, style, and futuristic flair.
this chair would look incredible in any mid century modern, modern or contemporary space. -
