Description
Set of Three Vintage Model K65 Bar Stools by Alvar Aalto for Artek, crafted in beautiful natural birch with original “ IFC Made in Finland” labels retained underneath. These iconic stools embody the warmth, simplicity, and functional elegance that define Aalto’s work, showcasing his revolutionary bent laminated birch construction—one of the most important innovations in Scandinavian modern design.
The Model K65 bar stool is celebrated for its clean architectural silhouette, featuring a gently curved bentwood backrest, round seat, and sculptural L-leg construction that provides both remarkable strength and visual lightness. The exposed layered birch edges are a hallmark of authentic Aalto production and reflect the honest materiality that made Finnish modernism so influential worldwide.
This set has been thoughtfully refreshed by the Hobbs Modern restoration team while preserving the authentic vintage character that makes these pieces special. They are not in perfect condition—and they shouldn’t be. These stools show honest age, vintage wear, surface marks, and a beautiful natural patina that speaks to decades of use and history. Rather than over-restoring them, we chose to honor that story while ensuring they present beautifully and are ready for everyday use.
Perfect for a kitchen island, breakfast bar, studio, or commercial setting, these stools offer both comfort and understated sophistication while blending effortlessly into modern, minimalist, and vintage interiors alike. Their warm birch tone, original Finnish markings, and time-earned character make this set especially desirable for collectors of Scandinavian design and lovers of authentic mid-century modern furniture.
At Hobbs Modern, we carefully source and restore exceptional vintage design with an emphasis on authenticity, craftsmanship, and lasting beauty. This rare set of three Aalto bar stools offers the perfect balance of restoration and patina—iconic Finnish design with soul, history, and timeless appeal. -
