Antique French Empire Style Mahogany and Gilt Bronze Couch

This beautiful canapé style couch is crafted from mahogany wood, mounted with gilt bronze, and upholstered with a red and gold polka-dot fabric. It is designed in the refined French Empire style, with a simple form wooden frame supported by four legs: two square profile back legs and two front modelled as paw feet. The front two also feature circular classical columns with gilt bronze capitals and bases. The circular armrests feature further gilt bronze details in the shape of two rosette mounts either side. There are also foliate-form gilt bronze mounts to the apron and top of the backrest; the latter features a vase with flanking scrolls and winged figures pouring water.
