The Ball Chair, also known as the Globe Chair, was designed by Finnish designer Eero Aarnio in 1963 and is one of the most famous design icons of the 20th century, emblematic of the Space Age.
This piece is a first edition original from the 1960s by Asko, which manufactured it from 1966 to approximately 1980. From 1996 to 2015, the Ball Chair was produced by Adelta, and since 2016, the company Eero Aarnio Originals has held the patent and has been manufacturing new versions in Finland.
The most sought-after versions of this chair among collectors are the first editions by Asko. This vintage piece is in perfectly restored condition.
The seating comfort is exceptionally good, and as soon as you sit down, the spherical shape provides a pleasant acoustic barrier from your surroundings. Perfect for relaxing or listening to music. The open front, which is slightly sloped backward, allows light to stream in from above, making it a great chair for reading as well.
This is an authentic original from the coveted first edition, manufactured by Asko in Finland in the late 1960s. The seat cushions have been replaced and are produced by a modern manufacturer using the authentic original fabric. The ball bearings in the base have been completely replaced, and the shell has been refinished. -
