Mid-century modern style celebrated functionality, and this is still a key tenant when decorating homes of the 21st century. And it is no surprise, because the furniture from this period, exemplified by this curved sofa, combines functionality, pragmatism, and an appeal to the senses.

This sumptuous curved sofa features the recognizable touch of Danish Modernism: exquisite materials, craftsmanship, and an elegantly curved shape, because of which this type of sofa is often referred to as the “banana” style. The design is focused on the aesthetics of modernism whilst employing the exquisite qualities of the materials, especially of the upholstery. The solid wood structure’s smooth lines stand out even under the highly textural faux shearling while also accentuating the individuality of the upholstery. The soft fibres of the lightweight taupe shearling drape beautifully over the frame, adding plenty of volume. As it can be expected from Danish modern pieces, functionality, and comfort are still kept at the core of the design. This is especially evident in the gently curved, enveloping back and the sturdy wooden legs. The solid wood legs’ dark colour and smoothness further highlight the upholstery, creating a balanced look.
