Description
Created by Domingos Tótora from a recycled Kraft paper shell, entirely molded by hand, with surface reliefs, the Leiras armchair has oxidized iron feet and was launched in 2013.
About the artist:
Born and raised in Maria da Fé, a small Southeastern Brazilian town in the Mantiqueira Mountains, Domingos Tótora finds in this habitat of expression and experimentation not only his roots and affective ties, but also his main source of inspiration: nature. Surrounded by the local landscape, the designer works with a surprising raw material, recycled cardboard, to create furniture, objects and sculptural pieces. The beauty of Tótora’s work manifests itself not only in the finished piece, but also in the careful, certified sustainable process through which cardboard, which originated as wood, is essentially brought back full cycle by taking on a wood-like quality again through the careful work of the designer’s hands. -
