An ebonized Arts & Crafts small rocking chair attributed to Ernest Gimson. Towards the late 19th century these chairs were popularized by designers like Ernest Gimson, often in ash or ebonized wood such as this one.

Ernest William Gimson was an English furniture designer and architect. Gimson was described by the art critic Nikolaus Pevsner as "the greatest of the English architect-designers"
