This beautiful armchair is a great representation of the quality and craftsmanship of European master cabinetmakers from the mid-20th century period.

Cabinetmaker armchairs may seem similar at first sight, however each model’s individuality becomes evident upon closer inspection. In this chair’s case, its sheer volume and the welcoming, wing-back shape stand out immediately. Wingback chairs, originating in the 17th century, have maintained their popularity throughout most design eras to this day, and their inclusion in mid-century modern design is no surprise. The synthesis that this chair has achieved between form and function is outstanding, aesthetics and utility come together perfectly. The embracing back and the curved arms create a welcoming impression, while the back’s elongated or “winged” corners create visual interest.
