Sanguineti set of 8 high back 'Coloniale' dining chairs - Chiavari, Italy 1960s
-
Description
A fantastic set of rare ''Coloniale'' dining chairs made by ''Figli di Sanguineti'' in Chiavari during the 1960s.
This model appeared in the Sanguineti catalogues in the early '60s and since then it was produced for a short period in very small numbers.
With their elegant design and high back seats, these chairs match perfectly the requirements of those who are looking for a sophisticated and classic dining room setting.
All the chairs are fire marked on their frames. Six of them retain their original rattan seat. Paper label present underneath. Two chairs have been professionally newly caned in Chiavari applying the original technique.
Chiavari chairs (familiarly named ''Chiavarine'' in Italy) stand out for their light and sturdy construction. They inspired Gio Ponti in the creative process of two of him masterpieces: the Leggera chair in the early 50s and the Superleggera chair in the 1958.
