Description
This is an early original Chieften Chair branded “NILES VODDER COPENHAGEN DENMARK DESIGN: FINN JUHL” under the front of the seat frame. Manufactured in 1949, this chair retains it’s original leather upholstery. The original wood has become beautifully patinated over time. There are no breaks or repairs to the wood. When first shown, the Chieftain chair was exhibited with photos of weapons from anthropological studies. Finn Juhl was one of the most important of the Danish designers and was very influential in bringing Danish design to the world. He participated in the 1951 Good Design exhibition in Chicago.
