Description
A pair of French Louis XVI style painted wood wingback bergères à oreilles from the early 20th century, with carved ribbons, twisted rails, scrolling knuckles, fluted legs and floral upholstery. Created in France during the Turn of the Century which saw the transition between the 19th to the 20th, each of this pair of wingback chairs, called Bergères à Oreilles in French, features a delicately carved back topped with an elegant tied ribbon on the crest. This slightly slanted back is upholstered, along with the two fulls arms presenting scrolling knuckles and the seat, with a used soft colored floral upholstery in fair condition, secured with a brass nailhead trim. The rail is adorned with twisted patterns running along the entire structure. The chairs are each raised on four fluted legs resting on arrow feet. With their elegant Louis XVI lines and delicately carved décor, this pair of French bergères chairs circa 1900 will bring a Classical touch of elegance to any home, whether placed in a living room or bedroom.
