Description
A large French Régence style walnut fauteuil circa 1790 with tall slanted back, open arms with scrolling knuckles, scalloped apron, cabriole legs, hoof feet and curving X-Form stretcher. Immerse yourself in historical elegance with this French Régence style walnut fauteuil, circa 1790. A grand statement piece, this fauteuil offers a unique blend of style, comfort, and regal sophistication, making it a great addition to any interior.
The fauteuil boasts a tall slanted back, designed for comfort while exuding an air of dignified refinement. The open arms feature scrolling knuckles, a delicate touch that enhances the chair's visual appeal and practical usability.
Adding to the artistic design, a scalloped apron adorns all sides. This French piece stands on graceful cabriole legs, a design element associated with the Régence period that is both functional and visually striking. The legs terminate in distinct hoof feet, adding an element of whimsy to the chair's overall elegance.
The piece is unified by a curving X-form stretcher, adding strength and stability to the design while providing a dramatic visual balance. The mustard-colored upholstery on the back, seat, and arms, although showing signs of use, is in fair condition and adds a burst of warm, inviting color. This upholstery is secured with a brass nailhead trim, a classic finish that is both functional and aesthetically pleasing.
Whether you're an antique lover or a fan of regal comfort, this French Régence style walnut fauteuil embodies a timeless design ethos that has been celebrated for centuries. Don't miss the chance to own this piece of history and make it a conversation starter in your home or office. -
