Extremely Rare Set of Six George 11 Period Scarlet Coloured Japanned Side / Dining Chairs.
Each Chair is Profusely Decorated Throughout with Outstanding Gilded Chinoiserie Scenes on a Scarlet Japanned Background with Figures, Fauna and Flora Subject Matter. The Typical Vase Shaped Back Splat and Tapering Caned Seat Standing upon Cabriole Front Legs with Adjoining Stretchers Suggest the work of Giles Grendey, Clerkenwell London Circa 1730.

Gilbert ... and more importantly Stalker and Parker " A Treatise of Japanning and Varnishing " whose remarkable poetic descriptions introduced the process of European Laquer to western craftsmen and their clientele effectively changing the face of European interior decoration.

Condition: Very good country house state ... "typical of laquer " small areas are in need of sympathetic refreshing, at present waiting for clients instructions as how untouched is their personal style ... Michael ( I ) adores them in their present state.
