    England c.1770.

    Rare English , Mahogany 18th century English Cabinet of Drawers inlaid with a display of exotic marbles to each drawer - having an unusual secret sliding top for very private articles . This item is directly related to the French Cartonier which was a piece freestanding on an important desk to house serious papers.
    Presumably a gentleman on his "Grand Tour" of the Continent would have on his return commissioned this rather special piece to his own particular taste in the English fashion. Circa 1775.
