Description
Modernist high back chairs supported by sculptural, walnut feet (circa 1950s, Italy).
Aesthetically distinctive, striking design with an imposing, tall back and pronounced/exaggeratedly sculpted arms.
The sharp lines and proportions are beautifully balanced with the short, but deeply sculpted conical feet whose rich walnut color and vivid grain enhance the dramatic design.
Stylish without compromising function and comfort.
In the style of Gio Ponti (proportions are the same as his high back chair design; the feet being the only design difference, as the back two are straight, not splayed).
Newly reupholstered in a luxurious tawny/gold-brown bouclé (Kravet 36114-166) with a contrasting seat recovered in a cream bouclé (Kravet 36120-1). The foam has additionally been replaced, and the walnut feet have been newly refinished and show only minor nicks/scuffs.
Sourced in Rome, Italy.
