Description
Harvey Probber once said, “Design has a fourth dimension — the intangible quality of aging gracefully.”
The evidence of this statement is clearly seen in the qualities of this rare and striking example of 1970s modernism! This expansive modular Harvey Probber sectional features nine seating units with signature deep tufting and luxurious original velvet upholstery in a rich, period-appropriate sky blue. The sleek chrome plinth bases add a sculptural, floating effect that enhances its architectural presence. Designed for both comfort and style, this piece embodies Probber’s mastery of modular design and timeless sophistication. Perfect for a collector seeking something uniquely original and sexy!
Most 21st-century contemporary sofas with a similar aesthetic do not compare to these vintage Probber designs because they lack the most important element... comfort. Probber sofas are among the most snugly enveloping seating options ever devised. Aside from the unparalleled designs, their cozy, inviting nature is a primary reason why they are so sought after.
This particular example was factory-ordered with a total of 6 plinths. There is a single long base designed to support 4 seating elements, including 2 corner pieces and 2 straight back pieces. The other 5 sections are all freestanding, which include 3 straight back sections, 1 corner element, and 1 ottoman. These five sections are completely modular and can be arranged independently from the 4-piece, sofa-shaped section.
Please review the individual dimensions on the catalog page located in the photos. If you need assistance with dimensions for a particular arrangement, please contact us, and we would be happy to send you a plan view with all of the specs. -
