Description
A refined and highly functional design by Edward Wormley for Dunbar, this Model 6302E pedestal table exemplifies the designer’s masterful balance of organic materiality and architectural form. Executed in richly figured olive burl, the cylindrical base is composed of faceted panels that emphasize the dramatic swirling grain, creating a sculptural presence from every angle.
The original slate top provides a striking contrast—its dark, matte surface grounding the warmth and movement of the burl while offering a durable and practical serving surface. The proportions are particularly elegant, allowing the piece to function equally well as a pedestal table, drinks table, or intimate dining surface.
A concealed door within the base opens to reveal a fitted interior configured as a dry bar, complete with shelving designed for bottles and barware. This hidden functionality reflects Wormley’s hallmark approach: sophisticated, discreet, and thoughtfully engineered for modern living.
Originally produced by Dunbar in the mid-20th century, this model is documented in period catalogs and is increasingly sought after for its combination of rare material, compact versatility, and iconic authorship.
An exceptional example of American modern design—equally suited to collectors and interiors that value both form and function.
Retains original "D" branded soloid brass skeleton key and interior big D label. -
