Description
Elegant three-seat sofa designed by Florence Knoll for Knoll Associates, circa 1960s. Upholstered in its original heavy weave textured ivory wool fabric, the sofa features Florence Knoll’s iconic clean-lined architectural silhouette elevated by a rare oil-rubbed bronze base.
The refined proportions and disciplined geometry exemplify Knoll’s influential “total design” philosophy, which helped define the aesthetic of postwar American modernism. Unlike the more commonly encountered chrome examples, the dark bronze finished base adds warmth and sophistication while emphasizing the sofa’s crisp floating form.
Retaining its original wool upholstery, the piece presents with a beautifully understated palette that complements both minimalist and richly layered interiors. The tailored upholstery, squared track arms, and deep seat proportions reflect Florence Knoll’s uniquely architectural approach to furniture design. The sofa has been professionally restored with new seat and arm foam installed over the original frame and has also been professionally cleaned.
Florence Knoll remains one of the most important figures in 20th century American design, and her seating designs continue to be highly sought after by collectors, architects, and interior designers worldwide.
An exceptionally unique example suitable for residential, executive, or gallery interiors. -
