Description
This armchair is attributed to Ico Parisi and was made in Italy in the 1950s. The design closely relates to a model Parisi created in 1951, which was manufactured by Ariberto Colombo in Cantù.
The design is defined by its pronounced curves. A high, rounded back flows into low armrests that flare gently outward, and a loose seat cushion sits within the sweeping frame. The chair stands on slender tapered wooden legs, which give the generous body a light, elegant feel.
The armchair has been newly upholstered in a Manuel Canovas velvet in a golden yellow / bronze color with an ivory pattern. An undulating line runs across the surface of the velvet, and the varying lengths of the pile make it shimmer as the light changes. The tapered walnut legs have been restored.
