Description
A refined French Art Deco club chair attributed to Jules Leleu (1883–1961), one of the most celebrated ensembliers of the interwar period. The chair displays the hallmarks of Leleu's mature style: a generously scaled, enveloping silhouette with softly rounded arms that flow seamlessly into the back, supported on subtly tapered hardwood legs. The proportions strike the balance Leleu was known for — luxurious volume tempered by disciplined geometry — making the piece equally at home in a period interior or a contemporary collector's setting.
The frame is executed in a richly figured hardwood (likely solid and veneered mahogany or rosewood, consistent with the Leleu workshop's preferred palette), with hand-finished surfaces and the restrained, almost architectural detailing characteristic of Maison Leleu commissions.
