WEST I - carved armchair, ashwood, Obsidian
-
Description
WEST I, is one of a pair of unique armchairs by Julio Martínez Barnetche. Both are masterpieces in handcrafting beautiful ash-wood and black Obsidian. All parts are individually joined together with wood sticks and stainless steel joints, the latter being covered with black Obsidian, native to Mexico.
Martínez is a prolific sculptor of precious and semi-precious stones and wood, working between sculpture, furniture and objects. His work has a profound strength and is developed with a masterly approach to the use of materials and techniques.
He often takes his materials as he encounters them naturally and does not intervene too much, especially in the case of stones and wood. He never cuts a tree, he finds the wood in nature, in the garden of friends or at architectural salvage sites.
Unique Piece.
Discount is possible for the purchase of the pair West 1 and West 2. Please inquire. -
