Description
One of Lawrence Peabody's most sought-after designs, this chair is a luxurious addition to your home. Featuring high back profile and simplified scroll form arm rests, forming a beautifully sumptuous lounge chair newly upholstered in Platinum velvet. The hand-rubbed walnut supports give the design a sumptuous feel while the holistically segmented design makes this vintage beauty a timeless classic. Lawrence Peabody (1914–2011) was born in Massachusetts and resided there throughout his life. He studied architecture at the University of Pennsylvania and the Bauhaus, where he became an important member of the school's American contingent whose work directly influenced design movements both in Europe and America. He designed interiors for New York City hotels as well as residences around Brooklyn as well as Palm Beach, Florida. Like so many grand mid-century designers, Peabody worked with a number of corporations including Garden House Furniture Corporation whose products were available at Saks Fifth Avenue among others. In Mint-Restored Condition.
