Description
A scarce pair of architectural desk chairs designed by Michel Cadestin with Georges Laurent for the Beaubourg (Centre Pompidou) project. Conceived in 1976–77 for the Pompidou Library’s staff, the “Chaise Dactylo” sits on a star-base with casters and features the signature electro-galvanized steel wire trellis that cradles the seat and backrest. Original cognac leather cushions add warmth to the industrial frame, while the lever allows height adjustment for precise ergonomics. Produced by Teda, these early editions are sought after for their direct link to the Pompidou’s radical design language - functional, graphic, and unmistakably 1970s. Beyond their striking aesthetic, they represent a rare fusion of practicality and avant-garde architecture, echoing the Centre Pompidou’s revolutionary spirit. Today, they are considered highly collectible pieces of French design history.
