Description
This antique oak coffer from early 18th century England reflects the quiet strength of vernacular country furniture. Defined by its clean architectural lines, generous proportions, and hand-forged iron lock plate, the piece embodies a restrained utilitarian character shaped by centuries of domestic use. The solid oak surface has acquired a rich dark patina over time, revealing subtle irregularities, wear, and tonal depth that enhance the authenticity of the object.
Originally intended for the storage of textiles and household belongings, the coffer now functions equally well as a sculptural furnishing within contemporary interiors. Its understated silhouette and honest material presence allow the piece to integrate naturally into both rustic and refined settings. All our rustic furniture has undergone a two-cycle preventive woodworm treatment for long-term care and preservation. -
