Dassi set of five chairs 1950s

$ 3,100
  • Description
    Set of five black lacquered walnut chairs with gray velvet seats, attributed to Vittorio Dassi, one of the most important names in 20th-century Italian cabinetmaking. His company, Dassi Mobili Moderni, collaborated closely with Gio Ponti between the 1940s and 1950s, which explains why the style is so refined and architectural.
    While Ponti or Parisi provided the artistic vision, Dassi was the master of technical execution. His works are distinguished by their excellent cabinetmaking and his ability to bend solid wood (often rosewood or walnut) to create almost invisible but extremely resistant joints.
    This model fits perfectly into the transition between the more solid Art Deco style and the organic modernism of the 1950s.
