    Pair of antique French Empire style mahogany and gilt bronze armchairs
    French, 19th Century
    Height 108cm, width 70cm, depth 60cm

    This pair of French Empire style fauteuil armchairs are crafted from mahogany with ormolu mounts and cream upholstery. The chairs feature square-profile legs to the front, with ormolu paw feet. The back legs curve up towards the similarly curved backrest, decorated with Neoclassical ormolu mounts. The two cylindrical armrests are supported by ormolu busts and also feature classicising mounts, such as scallop shells and foliate sprays.

    One chair is missing the upholstered cushioning of the backrest.
