Description
Pair of Biedermeier Scroll Form Arm Chairs in Hand Finished Burled Elm
$6,475.00
This elegant and sculptural pair of Biedermeier arm chairs were realized in Austria circa 1880. Realized in a stunning burled elm- showcasing the sumptuous natural grain of the wood- they feature stylized cabriolet style legs with scroll form detailing at their apex that meets the generously appointed apron. Tapered rectangular block detailing rises from each front corner on which the graphic curvilinear scroll form arms sit. The open form backs are traced in burled elm as well and feature a crested apex with scroll form detailing at each corner. The chairs have been newly upholstered in a grisaille geometric pattern- consisting of repeating grids of octagonal forms in sumptuous bronze and platinum metallic hues. With its modernist forward looking forms and old world craftsmanship, these chairs would be a winning addition to any style of interior from traditional to contemporary. They have been newly reupholstered and restored to excellent vintage condition.
