Pair of Danish Easy Chairs in Longhair Sheepskin, Denmark 20th Century

$ 13,300
  • Description
    Danish Modernism found its roots in the Bauhaus and Functionalist movements. Bauhaus design emphasized clean, pure lines, while Functionalism sought to prioritise an object’s function over its form. These two principles, along with the rich Scandinavian tradition of careful craftsmanship, shaped Danish Modern design and these easy chairs.

    The construction of this stunning pair features high-quality materials and the technical mastery of the era’s cabinetmakers. The masterful use of polished beech wood stands out against the longhair sheepskin. The soft fibres of the feathery sheepskin drape beautifully over these chairs, while the warm brown colour adds depth. Thanks to this use of materials, the chairs give off a natural, textured look, making them ideal to blend a stroke of modernity to any space, with a nod to organic, simple artistry. Sheepskin is the ultimate material for comfort, warm in the winter and cool in the summer. The sculpted yet sturdy, bare armrests balance the fullness of the chairs’ body, while their shape accommodates the user. The armrests also allow for an inviting and open look which is often a signature characteristic of Danish Modernism. From the solid wood frames to the luxurious upholstery, these chairs express a quality of cosiness and comfortable conviviality that engenders a feeling of contentment.

    This pair of easy chairs embody the timeless elegance and innovative spirit of Danish design. Perfectly suited for a vintage or contemporary interior, they represent a marriage of artistry and comfort. Its upholstery captures attention, adding warmth and vibrancy to any space, while the wooden accents are grounding, together making this pair into an ideal statement piece.
