Description
This pair of late 19th-century French armchair is part of a parlor suite consisting of a matching canapé and a pair of side chairs, also listed on Incollect. The suite has been left in as-found condition and was sourced directly from the south of France. The antique tapestry upholstery is in need of professional cleaning and minor repairs but is still quite spectacular. The cream and gray polychrome lacquer finish would benefit from cleaning if a distressed finish is desired. Otherwise, the frames could be refinished to a stunning effect. The form and carved details of these armchairs are masterfully crafted in the Louis XVI style. They were likely produced for the Parisian luxury market around the turn of the century.
