Pair of Swedish Rococo Chairs with Traces of Original Paint, Circa 1770

A genuine pair of period Rococo chairs dating to circa 1770, retaining traces of their original painted surfaces. The frames have been carefully scraped back, revealing a softly worn patina and remnants of early paint that speak to the chairs’ age and authenticity.

The design features elegant curved backrests with shaped splats, cabriole legs, and restrained carved detailing typical of Scandinavian Rococo furniture of the late 18th century. The proportions are light and balanced, emphasizing verticality and fluid movement in the lines.

The seats are later replacements, sympathetically made and upholstered to suit the period while providing practical comfort. Structurally sound and visually cohesive, the chairs present well as a pair, with honest wear consistent with their history.
