Paolo Tilche was born in Alexandria, Egypt, to a family of Italian merchants who had long settled in Egypt. He moved to Milan with his family and graduated in 1949 with a degree in Architecture from the Milan Polytechnic. He initially focused on urban planning, participating in the projects of Milano-Bicocca, Legnano, and Iglesias. In 1955, he and his wife Anna Pontremoli (a painter, daughter of Mario Pontremoli) founded Arform, a furniture store in central Milan. From 1956 to 1963, he and Mario Tedeschi hosted "Piacere della Casa," the first RAI television program dedicated to furniture and design. During his career as a designer, he collaborated with major brands such as Fratelli Guzzini, Olivetti, Gruppo Industriale Busnelli, Bilumen, and Sirrah, with Cedit in the tile sector, and with Ideal Standard in the bathroom accessories sector. He died in Milan in 2002.
