Description
These chairs are iconic, modern, comfortable and gorgeous-- what more could you want? Available right now, we have a pair of iconic Groovy chairs designed by Pierre Paulin for Artifort in 1966.
This 1st edition set of groovy chairs is important and has key features that you won't find on today's groovy chairs. These feature the original black sleigh legs, as well the extended clean gap / side split on the sides that goes clean all the way down to the base. Looking at the back of the chairs, these original chairs are farrrrrrrrrr more sculptural than today's licensed copies. If you take a look at the back of these original chairs, the legs actually bow inward flexing a sculptural hourglass shape; today's chairs are simply flat, lacking the curviness that make these chairs far groovier (if I may) than the newer productions.
These chairs are not only sculptural, they're comfy! Ergonomically designed to kind of cup the body, you'll sink into and relax in these chairs-- which are as equally pleasing to your bottom as they are your eye.
These stunning two-tone Groovy chairs designed by Pierre Paulin would look excellent in any Mid-Century Modern, modern or even space age styled environment. Play them up to be maximalist by styling with super modern Verner Panton or Eero Saarinen designs, or doff your hat with a subtle modernism by pairing them with a curvy Vladimir Kagan cloud sofa or BB Italia camaleonda. These chairs are cool, streamlined and modern and really effortlessly flex into any contemporary environment.
Last photo shows the chairs in our booth at Palm Springs Modernism Fall 2022. -
