A striking fusion of sculpture and function, this unique stool by Judith van den Boom for Studio Boom Wehmeyer is part of the Vitrified Variables series—an exploration of porcelain pushed beyond its perceived fragility. One of only 32 stools created within this body of work, each example is distinct, and this piece is signed by the artist.
The seat, formed from moulded and richly glazed porcelain, is shaped to resemble a softly folded textile—an illusion that contrasts with its vitrified strength and cool surface. Resting on a refined oak base, the work balances sensuous form with structural integrity. Both visually compelling and conceptually layered, it challenges conventional expectations of porcelain, transforming it into a resilient and expressive material.
