Description
The Scandinavian perspective on cabinetmaking is exceptional, uniting the principal idea of “form follows function” with an elegant aesthetic and quality, all without the use of heavy ornamentation. In combination with the unadorned style of mid-century modern design, this sofa brings together the best attributes of the era.
This three-seater sofa is immensely elegant, while also keeping the warmth and cosiness that is often associated with Scandinavian mid-century design. While not a full on banana sofa, this model has a gently curved look with an embracing back and gently bent seat. The sofa’s shape and wooden bun feet in the front show the signs of a master cabinetmaker whose craftsmanship is a collection of musings and factual knowledge about the traditions of traditional woodworking. Here, the beautiful light wool upholstery, the wood frame, and the traditional craft of woodworking translate the primordial beauty of nature into a modern furniture design. The design aims to maximize comfort while putting an emphasis on elegance and function. This is most visible in the round, welcoming body, enhanced by the premium fabric the sofa is covered in. The short, differing wood legs - bun feet in the front and thinner straight legs in the back - add a modern, organic feel, balancing out the voluptuous profile of the sofa.
Scandinavian master cabinetmakers have been creating products that last for a lifetime and become heirlooms naturally. Crafted with precision from solid wood, finished with attention to detail and care for the aesthetic experience as well, this sofa stands the test of time thanks to both its visual and material quality.
