Founded in Stockholm in 1902, Nordiska Kompaniet manufactured many of 20th century’s now iconic Swedish works. One of NK’s designers was David Rosén who was known for balancing tradition and innovation. Rosén designed items that suited the tastes of refined city elites, as well as everyday homes of the expanding middle class. He attended the University College of Arts, Crafts and Design in Stockholm where he mastered the craftsmanship of Scandinavian design, putting a strong emphasis on organic materials and minimalistic, quiet statement pieces like this shelf.
