Description
Available today, this Mid-Century Modern “Moleca” Armchair with Stool in Hardwood & Leather by Sergio Rodrigues designed in 1959 is absolutely gorgeous!
The "Moleca'' lounge chair is a remarkable example of Brazilian design history, crafted by the skilled hands of master designer Sergio Rodrigues in 1963. This exceptional piece of furniture showcases Rodrigues's innovative and creative approach to design, blending sturdy Brazilian hardwood, leather straps, and original foam upholstery to create a truly breathtaking work of art.
The "Moleca" lounge chair, produced only in 1963, is a rare and highly sought-after item that has been beautifully restored by a top craftsman, preserving its original beauty and design. The chair's stunning cream leather re-upholstery adds to its luxurious and exquisite appearance.
Owning a "Moleca" lounge chair is more than just possessing a gorgeous piece of furniture; it also means owning a part of Brazil's rich cultural and design history. This chair is a testament to Rodrigues's artistic flair and vision, and would make a fantastic addition to any interior space that values and appreciates the significance of this unique and extraordinary design.
The gorgeous set is showcased in our showroom next to a Novo Rumo rosewood credenza, a bar cart designed by Geraldo de Barros and two stunning floor lamps in Chrome and rosewood. The convo looks nothing less than spectacular as seen in the images.
For the history buffs here, it goes…Sergio Rodrigues started working in the 1950’s when the foundations of modern Brazilian architecture were already laid out, yet furniture design was still nascent. Rodrigues set himself the task of designing furniture that was both truly Brazilian and modernist at the same time. Over the course of his career, he accomplished this task by defining a robust, modern, and pure language reflected in his work.
Also attached are some vintage and contemporary publications of the famous piece.
