A regal set of four dining chairs from the Netherlands early 19th century, in a Neoclassical taste for elegant proportions and timeless details. Their oak frames are meticulously carved in just one glorious splat that keeps the design light and quite easy to slide in and out from the table. Warm coloration of the patinated oak adds definition to the chair backs notable for the large central medallion over the columnar splat that rises from an iconic festoon motif in the lumbar area. The chair seats are upholstered in a rich brown velvet that is rather worn but is perfectly acceptable to continue using as the internal stuffing remains comfortable. Slender tapered legs without the need for stretchers have both order and the same lightness to fit anywhere. We believe these to be in good antique condition considering their age, and any visible signs of wear are captured in the photos.
