Set of Serpentine Sofas by Vladimir Kagan for Directional, C. 1970s
-
Description
A stunning and rare set of vintage "Serpentine" sofas designed by architect and furniture designer Vladimir Kagan for Directional. The sofas feature a distinctive curved frame that gives this piece a delightful sensual design, assuring a striking proportioned profile view from all angles. They have been completely restored, down to their frames with all insides fully updated (springs, foam, straps). Re-upholstered in high-quality off-white wool by Kravet. Both sofas are right-arm versions, meant to zig-zag one another when placed face to face. The original Directional label remains attached underneath. Priced as a set.
Other designers working in the organic style include Gio Ponti, Jean Royere, Paul Frankl, George Nakashima, and Isamu Noguchi. -
