Description
A large set of twelve paint decorated Italian 18th century armchairs of substantial scale with button upholstered balloon backs, having shaped caned seats with detachable buttoned cushions with decorative gilt rosettes to the center and corners of the aprons, the arms shaped and with large scrolled handles, the arm supports as well as the legs similarly treated and of turned, tapering form with gilded fluting. Italy, circa 1760. Chair dimensions: 23 1/2" wide x 22 1/2" deep x 40" high; seat dimensions: 18" wide x 17" deep x 19" high with cushion x 16 1/4" high without cushion.
