Spectacular Svend Skipper Papa Bear Chair Mid-Century Danish Modern
-
Description
Magnificent “Papa Bear” Model-91 Lounge Chair designed by Svend Skipper for Skipper Møbelfabrik in Denmark circa 1950's. This model acquired the name “Papa Bear” when a journalist claimed that the chair looked like a bear hugging the sitter from behind. There are several different version of the model-91 with this one being more rare than the others-see arm pads and leg configuration. This chair retains it original textured rusty orange fabric in nice condition. It measures 39"t x 35"w x 31"d with a seat height of 15.5"t.
The original fabric shows minor wear with some pills and minor spots. The straps could be tightened but are still usable as is. Teak details have minor scuffs and dings-nothing serious. -
