Description
The ‘DC1302’ stool was conceived by Vincenzo De Cotiis between 2012 and 2013 as part of the Progetto Domestico initiative, reflecting the designer’s ongoing dialogue between architecture and collectible design. Handmade in Italy in 2016, the piece translates De Cotiis’ rigorous spatial sensibility into a compact, sculptural form. Executed entirely in brass, the stool demonstrates a refined balance between structural logic and material expressiveness.
Its construction is defined by a rhythmic stacking of horizontal brass elements, intersecting to form a lattice-like volume that appears both solid and permeable. The gently faceted seat rests atop this geometric composition, introducing a subtle angular contrast to the strict linear grid below. The natural patina of the brass enhances the tactile depth of the surface, revealing tonal variations that underscore the handcrafted character. As with much of De Cotiis’ work, the DC1302 occupies the threshold between functional object and architectural maquette, embodying the experimental spirit of contemporary Italian design. -
