Description
This is a rare signed “Butaque” arm chair designed by William Spratling and produced in his workshop in Taxco, Mexico in the 1930’s. It was handmade of Mexican sabino wood and leather with brass nails. This Butaque chair is branded with the Spratling “WS” monogram and “Taxco”. It is a prime example of Spratling’s unique blending of traditional Mexican Colonial and Pre-Columbian designs with modern forms.
