Description
Exceptional hand-carved oakwood secretaire/ cabinet from the Baroque revival period around 1870 in Austria. A real unique, great sized bureau cabinet/ secretary made of solid oakwood and stained to a very beautiful dark nutwood tone. This secretary cabinet from the so-called "second Baroque" - impresses with its rustic but at the same time also very elegant look. The elaborate crafted carvings on the pilasters as well as on the whole front are definitely highlights on this unusual secretaire. Providing four drawers, all adorned by artfully brass applications, the main highlight is the "bureau" feature in the middle of the cabinet, hidding behind a hinged door. When you open it you transform your "normal" baroque cabinet into a fully functional writing desk with three compartments in the back followed by four small, practical drawers on the left and four on the right side. Due to its perfect size (52" x 27.5" x 16.1") this exceptional late 19th century baroque secretary cabinet can be used even in smaller rooms and would still look amazing.
