Description
An exceptional nineteenth-century painted wall cabinet originating from the Skåne region of southern Sweden, an area celebrated for its richly decorated folk furniture traditions. Crafted in pine, this cabinet retains its authentic hand-painted surface, displaying a harmonious palette of muted greens, ochre, and soft earth tones developed through natural aging. The surface exhibits honest wear consistent with age, enhancing depth and character while preserving the cabinet’s historical integrity.
The façade features two reeded doors with geometric paneling, opening to reveal two interior drawers that provide functional storage within a compact form. Above, the arched crest is adorned with carefully painted detailing, reflecting the regional craftsmanship typical of Skåne furniture of the nineteenth century, where decoration and utility were thoughtfully balanced.
Well proportioned and visually striking, this wall cabinet works beautifully in an entryway, kitchen, or layered wall installation. Its strong decorative presence, combined with authentic surface and regional provenance, makes it a compelling example of Swedish provincial design with enduring decorative appeal.
This is an antique and having been around for a long time, it will show signs of wear. Antique pieces have very much sought-after character and associated flaws. Please review photos for condition & contact us with questions! -
