Danish Louis Seize Style Chest of Drawers with Painted Marble Top, circa 1920
-
Description
A Danish chest of drawers in the Louis Seize style, crafted circa 1920 and finished in a deep black paint with charming natural patina. This elegant piece features three full-length drawers with original brass ring pulls and escutcheons, all set within a rectilinear frame that reflects the neoclassical clarity of the Louis XVI tradition. A refined dentil molding, often referred to as a “tooth strip”, runs along the top edge, lending architectural rhythm and visual texture. The standout feature is the painted faux-marble top, done in warm tones with subtle veining that convincingly mimics real stone while maintaining a lighter overall weight. Supported on classic square bracket feet and constructed with solid wood throughout, including a paneled back, this chest offers both decorative impact and durable storage. A versatile piece equally suited for bedrooms, entryways, or living spaces that call for a sophisticated historical accent with Danish roots.
