1822 Swedish Folk Art Tall Case Clock with Original Paint
-
Description
A striking example of Swedish folk art, this tall case clock dated 1822 is a celebration of craftsmanship and color. Retaining its untouched original painted surface, the case is adorned with hand-painted floral motifs in warm ochres, earthy reds, and deep teal blues—each stroke telling a story of rural artistry and regional pride. The charming hourglass silhouette, typical of Mora-style clocks, adds sculptural elegance to the piece.
While the base has been sympathetically remade to support the structure, the rest of the clock remains in original condition. The clockwork mechanism is included but has not been tested and is sold as found. Whether displayed as a functional timepiece or a folk art sculpture, this clock brings with it a sense of authenticity, charm, and enduring Swedish heritage.
This is an antique and having been around for a long time, it will show signs of wear. Antique pieces have very much sought-after character and associated flaws. Please review photos for condition & contact us with questions! -
