Description
A rare and elegant mid-century sideboard by Florence Knoll, the iconic ‘Model 116’, designed circa 1948 for Knoll Associates. This refined piece features a sleek black-lacquered casing paired with beautifully textured sliding grasscloth doors, subtly accented by original sculpted leather strap pulls. Inside, the sideboard reveals a functional and thoughtfully designed interior: one side houses a custom compartmentalised drawer ideal for organising cutlery and smaller items, while the other side presents spacious open shelving for larger dining or living room essentials. The piece rests on minimalist cylindrical black steel legs, typical of Knoll's modernist ethos, offering lightness and visual elevation. While signs of age such as mild mildew, surface scratches, and patina are present, they contribute to the authentic character of this seldom-seen model.
