Description
Dimensions: 42 ⅛” H x 50 ⅝” W x 19 ½” D
A gorgeous Louis XVI-style buffet from 19th-century France made from birdseye maple with a marble top. The stone top is made from a single, impressive slab of orange and tan breccia marble, which has a front cut to shape the silhouette of the lower cabinet. It is in good condition with only minor surface scratches and etching, consistent with the buffet’s age and continued use. In the frieze is a single drawer that opens smoothly with its original lock and key. The drawer is paneled and features a beaded brass trim, which is repeated on the paneled cabinet below. The beauty of the birdseye maple is on full display in the cabinet doors, which include their original lock and key and open to a spacious interior with a single fixed shelf measuring 15 ½” deep. The base of the cabinet has an inlaid, fluted brass trim, which continues around the curved corners onto the sides of the piece. Six tapered maple legs support the cabinet and are adorned with brass rosettes and fluted carving. With its sophisticated design, this buffet would make a stunning addition to any home. Gently cleaned and polished with a French paste wax, ready for use in your interiors. We believe this to be in good condition considering the age, and any visible signs of wear are captured in the photos. Please view the detailed image gallery for the current condition or reach out with any questions. -
