Description
Dimensions: 37” H x 52 ⅛” W x 24” D
A substantial French commode from the 19th century wrapped in finely-grained mahogany trimmed with inlaid brass that frames the drawer-fronts and chamfered corners. The original marble slab blends streaks of peach and white throughout the gray stone for exciting movement, patinated with fine scratches and edge chips. A stack of three drawers whose fronts are matched for expansive continuity of the grain are punctuated by ring pull hardware in brass that coordinates with the expertly inlaid strips of metal creating a border, or paneled effect, around them. One (ornate) key is shared between the working locks, and all drawers have been thoroughly cleaned inside & out to glide easily. Veneer on the side panels displays a lightly rippled effect but remains intact and stable for continued use. Finished with a French paste wax to maintain the gorgeous color and patina, this handsome storage piece is ready for its next home. We believe this to be in good antique condition considering its age, and any visible signs of wear are captured in the photos. Please view the detailed image gallery for the current condition or reach out directly with any questions. -
